Synopsis (EN)

ROSE is thirty years old. She lives in a working-class city in France and works in a foundry. Every day, accompanied by her little boy, DANNY, she labels statues and takes care of their delivery. But for a few weeks, the factory has been going through a major economic crisis. The boss decides to reduce the production.

Despite the ban on creating statues until further notice, an order of enormous dimensions is sent to them: a statue representing Aline Sitoé Diatta, a black woman, a figure of resistance against the colonial occupation in Africa.

The boss, his colleagues, the whole factory refuses. ROSE decides, against the approval of everyone, to make the statue alone.

But as the statue takes shape, a mysterious handicap of unknown origin takes possession of her body.


Director’s Bio

Mamadou Socrate DIOP is a Senegalese filmmaker, director and screenwriter. He began his artis- tic career as a writer. He attended early on associations of writers and film clubs. In 2013, he joined Ciné-Banlieue, a collaborative film school in the suburbs of Dakar.There, he learned screenwriting and directing. In 2016, with young filmmakers from his school, he participated in the writing of the short film “DEM DEM”.The film is presented at the Short Film Festival of Clermont-Ferrand and gets the Tanit d’Argent at the JCC of Carthage.

In 2018,he directed“WUUTU”his 1st individual film.In 2021,he directed his second short film“BABY BLUES”.The film is presented at the Festival Vue d’Afrique in Montreal. It also won the Jury Prize at the Luxor Film Festival in Egypt.

Currently, he is developing his first feature as well as his 3rd short film project “ MAMELLES / LOST THINGS “. With this project, he participated in the DURBAN TALENT in 2022, as well as in the BERLINALETALENT 2023 in Short Form Station program.
